The BV CAPS
Blood Drive
The Blue Valley CAPS program hosts an annual blood drive that one of the medical strands hosts. This year, Sports Medicine hosted the blood drive.

Mission
The goal of our blood drive was to get 50 or more donations in one day. We accomplished that by getting 69 donations! We are very happy with the results and with all of these donations we will be able to help our local community by raising the blood supply in hospitals!

My Role
My role in the blood drive at CAPS was to help recruit as many people from CAPS and from the community to give blood. I also gave blood myself. I also helped advertise the blood drive on social media, posters, and street signs.

STep 1
The first part of the timeline was all about learning about the blood drive and getting ideas of how to pitch to people to come and donate blood
step 2
The next step was to then go out and pitch to the other CAPS students to donate blood and educate them on the importance of giving blood
Step 3
In step 3 of the Timeline we continues to advertise the blood drive by making a video, putting up posters at school, and putting signs at major intersections.
step 4
The last step was on February 10, and this was the Blood drive date. The sports med team helped run the blood drive by giving snacks and t-shirts to people after, as well as donate themselves!
Takeaways from the BV CAPS Blood Drive
I learned so much from this experience. I learned that It takes a ton of effort to run a blood drive and there is a lot of time that goes into it. I also learned that blood drives are not only important to have because they can help save countless lives, but also diversify the blood types in the blood supply which is super important. I feel like helping run and organize this blood drive helped me grow in understanding of how important they are. I also grew in my advertising and marketing skills from recruiting people to donate.
